Romani, Roma, and Irish Traveller Communities and the Criminal Justice System

Romani (Gypsy), Roma, and Irish Traveller (GRT) communities remain among the most marginalised in society and are disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system. Their experiences, cultures, and needs are often misunderstood, misrepresented, or overlooked.

A new evidence review by Grace Marie Preston from The Traveller Movement (TM Official) brings together research and lived experience to highlight areas where urgent change is needed.

To accompany the review, Clinks, part of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance  is hosting a free online webinar on Wednesday 3 December 2025,12–1pm.

The session will explore the review’s key findings and discuss how policymakers, practitioners, and voluntary sector organisations can improve outcomes for GRT people in contact with the justice system.
