Update from St. Paul’s Church and Centre

St. Paul’s Church and Centre, who received funding from Together in Service to run their Faithful Advice information service for the people of Birmingham, have provided us with a short update on the progress they have made recently.

We were successful in helping one of our regular service users to secure benefits to pay for funeral costs after months of delays by DWP. Recent welfare reforms have complicated previously simple procedures to apply for benefits.

The project has continued to make a real difference by offering timely advice and advocacy support service. One of the key features of this project has been the ability to reach out to all faith-based communities and gain unparalleled access to the hardest to reach and under-represented local groups of people. This has been achieved by establishing trust amongst faith-based local service users and offering culturally sensitive support service in their own community languages.
