Independent review of maternity services publishes its findings

An independent review of maternity and neonatal services in England, led by Baroness Valerie Amos, has published its findings.

The report found that too many women were not being listened to, heard or believed, with racism and discrimination embedded in throughout the system.

The report also recommended the creation of a maternity commissioner to oversee improvements.

The government has responded saying that a radical overhaul of maternity services across the country is needed to provide better care.
