Penny Appeal research on domestic abuse in Muslim Communities
The Domestic Abuse Research team at Penny Appeal are currently investigating domestic abuse within Muslim communities across the UK. The aim of the study is to understand why domestic abuse occurs and ascertain mechanisms which can be employed to tackle this social problem, in addition to providing a correct interpretation from an Islamic perspective on verse 34:4 of the Qu’ran (used by some to justify domestic abuse).
In order to support the research, they are asking for people to complete the attached consent form and questionnaire with as many female, Muslim victims/survivors of domestic abuse as possible in order to gain a representative sample of the British Muslim community.
