National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation: Call for Evidence

The National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation is a rapid, independent review of maternity and newborn care in England, chaired by Baroness Valerie Amos and established in August 2025 to drive urgent improvements in safety, quality and accountability after continued concerns about harm in NHS services.

It is examining care across 12 NHS trusts and the wider system, with the aim of producing one set of national recommendations to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities and ensure families’ experiences are central to change.

A public Call for Evidence has been launched inviting women and families to share their experiences to inform these recommendations.
