New report launch Amplifying Our Voices: Racialised Perspectives in Suicide Prevention

The National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) has released its report Amplifying Voices: Racialised Perspectives in Suicide Prevention. It describes the experiences, insights and reflections of racialised people with lived experience who are working in suicide prevention across the UK. These are voices that have been overlooked and underrepresented for far too long in the suicide prevention space.

The report has been written by members of an NSPA Learning and Collaboration Space with people from racialised communities. It describes themes that the group reflected on together, outlining what needs to change in suicide prevention to better address the needs and amplify the voices of racialised people.

The NSPA invites everyone working in suicide prevention to take the time to engage with the report and consider how you can be part of the change that is needed. Building a suicide prevention community that truly works for everyone starts with recognising and amplifying the voices that have been too often left unheard. You can also read their blog responding to the report and reflecting on what they learnt from working with the group.

The NSPA are keen to hear members’ reflections and ideas to improve how the suicide prevention community can better include racialised people. To discuss further get in touch with them by emailing info@nspa.org.uk.
