Ambulance service links with social prescribing

We have had contact with an ambulance service that is looking into the possibility of dispatching specialists in different kinds of healthcare, along with ambulances, where necessary. These people would be able to offer tailored care if the reason for the call was, for example, someone who had had a fall, was experiencing mental health issues, was pregnant or needed end of life care.

The service recognises that, following the ambulance visit, it could be very useful to link the patient to voluntary sector or faith-based organisations who might be able to continue to offer support – a kind of social prescribing.
