Government pledges additional £5 million for increased policing at places of worship

The government has pledged an addition £5 million to support an increase in deployment of police officers at key public sites, including places of worship.

The money will expand Project Servator, a national policing tactic which disrupts criminal activity and protects communities through highly visible and unpredictable deployments. The funding will be initially focused in London and Manchester following high profile incidents, and a concern over the rise of anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim hate crime.
