Prime Minister announces changes to social care review timelines

In a speech at Jewish Care on Wednesday 29th July, Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a set of measures designed at accelerating changes to the social care system in the UK.

Acknowledging the issues with social care provision, including failings by politicians who have produced a large number of reviews into social care, the Prime Minister’s announcements were said to make sure that the changes badly needed for social care can be implemented.

Burnham’s annoucements included confirming that the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care led by Baroness Casey would be asked to publish their report a year earlier than planned, by summer 2027. The Prime Minister also announced cross-party talks with senior politicians across Parliament to gather thoughts on how to solve issues around social care.
