All-Party Parliamentary Group on Faith and Society starts a new year

On Wednesday 15th July, as Parliament was enjoying Sir Keir Starmer’s final Prime Minister’s Questions and starting to wind down before the summer recess, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Faith and Society held its annual general meeting.

The APPG, supported by FaithAction as its secretariat, was established in 2013, to support faith-based social action. Since its establishment, the group has showcased and strengthened the vital work of faith-based organisations across the UK. The group’s flagship piece of work is the Faith Covenant, which encourages partnership working between faith groups and local councils and has currently been adopted by 33 local authority areas across the country

The AGM marked the start of a new year of activity, and gave the group the opportunity to refresh its team of officers, with Baroness Berridge replacing the Archbishop of Canterbury, who had decided to step aside after her elevation to her new role. We’d like to thank Archbishop Sarah for her support as part of the APPG.

Over the next year, the group will be focusing on Faith in Partnership Week 2026, work around faith and homelessness, and engaging with the government around their work on social cohesion.
