New Chapter for the APPG on Faith and Society
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Faith and Society has officially relaunched, marking a renewed commitment to showcasing and strengthening the vital work of faith-based organisations across the UK.
Zöe Franklin MP now serves as Chair of the group, supported by a strong team of Officers:
- Anna Dixon MP
- Danny Kruger MP
- Rt Rev. and Rt Hon. the Lord Bishop of London DBE
Originally established in 2012, the APPG on Faith and Society exists to champion the contributions of faith communities in addressing some of the UK’s most pressing social challenges. Its objectives include:
- Recognising the essential role faith groups play in community support.
- Sharing best practices to maximise positive impact.
- Encouraging deeper understanding and collaboration between faith initiatives and public services.
FaithAction continues as the APPG’s Secretariat, working to ensure the voices of faith-based organisations are heard in policymaking spaces.
At the official launch event, Members of Parliament and the House of Lords—including Darren Paffey MP, Lord Rook OBE, Lord Alderdice, and Lord Rees of Easton OBE—engaged in discussion around key topics. These included:
- Faith in Partnership Week – an annual celebration of collaboration between faith groups and statutory bodies.
- The Faith Covenant – a pioneering framework launched by the APPG to enhance local-level cooperation between councils and faith groups.
- Key social issues such as social care, child poverty, youth engagement, and inter faith work.
