Draft Policies

Safeguarding Policy Template

A safeguarding policy — also known as a vulnerable adults policy — sets out an organisation’s duties and responsibilities, and the procedures to be followed, when working with vulnerable adults.

A vulnerable adult is someone who “is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness; and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation”. This can include people with learning disabilities, mental health problems, or physical disability or impairment, and the elderly, as well as those that care for others, and victims of physical or mental abuse.
