North-East Funding Opportunity: Virgin Money Foundation

The Virgin Money Foundation, launched earlier this month, has opened up its first fund for applications, aimed at the following areas in the north east of England:

Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, South Tyneside, Stockton on Tees, Sunderland

Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 are available for charities, social enterprises, CICs, etc., as well as non-charitable organisations that are looking to do charitable work. The goal of the fund is to promote long-term change in communities, and will be aimed at the following areas:

  • Enabling homeless people to find homes
  • Youth education, training and enterprise
  • Creating and supporting community and social enterprise
  • Feasibility studies for projects to bring money/people into deprived areas
