Delivery leads sought for £10m project with older people in Greater Manchester

A competition is underway to find local delivery leads for the £10m Ambition for Ageing project.

The Big Lottery Fund-backed initiative sees a partnership of local councils, voluntary organisations and academics, led by Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation work to reduce social isolation and improve the lives of older people across Greater Manchester.

Local delivery leads will work with older people and communities in 24 Greater Manchester neighbourhoods, selected to represent a cross section of the region, to shape the way the money is spent.

The work is expected to result in more than 2,000 new funded projects designed to generate new connections and social activities, making it easier for older people to feel more confident and involved in their communities. The programme will also involve work with older people to understand and address the lifelong inequalities associated with class, gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
