Creative English Innovation & Sustainability Fund
The Creative English contract with DCLG includes an Innovation and Sustainability fund of £140,000 to which faith and community groups may apply for grants of £7,500 or £10,000.
There will be 3 rounds of funding – the 1st round will only be open to the HUBs currently delivering the Creative English programme.
This funding stream is to enable the creation of projects that provide further opportunity for people to improve their confidence in spoken English. Projects must also promote the overall aims, values and objectives of the Creative English Programme in order to contribute to Creative English package and legacy beyond the funded period.
In addition to this, FaithAction are seeking to fund projects that aim to sustain the programme beyond the funded period and bring innovation to teaching English to those who are hard to reach with mainstream language provisions.
Anne Smith, the Creator of the Creative English programme, has a vision that the fund will allow people to build on their experience and passion of English language provision by developing new courses and/or resources to increase its impact in the community sphere, through a more personal approach, while also increasing access to other funding streams or social enterprise.
Projects submitted for Creative English Innovation Fund must:
Demonstrate that they can:
- Develop projects (essential) and/or social enterprises (desirable) in line with the Creative English aims and values.
- Create further opportunities for Creative English in the community and extend its reach.
- Create enterprising initiatives.
Show how their project will help:
- Growing confidence
Qualifying projects may be diverse in presentation and engagement of individual groups but will have the common thread of teaching basic level English skills with familiar aims and values.
