NHS Charities given freedom to escape from health service legislation

Third Sector are reporting that as a response to its consultation on the regulation & governance of NHS charities, the Department of Health is looking into proposals that would allow NHS charities to release themselves from the NHS legislation they are currently governed by. Through the setting up of new charities, and the transfer of assets to them, NHS charities would have greater freedom and be allowed to operate more flexibly, for example appointing independent trustees, whilst still retaining their relationship with NHS bodies.
