‘Charity Safety Net stretched to Breaking Point’

The first findings released by ACEVO from their Social Sector Tracker 2014 has shown that charities are seeing a rising demand for their services, and could see demand rising again next year, but only 32% of respondents felt they would be able to cope effectively with this demand in the face of rising costs and central government policy that was felt to be damaging their work.  Sir Stephen Bubb, ACEVO Chief Executive, said: “Charities have been overwhelmed by the demand for their services. They have steadfastly refused to reduce service levels and absorbed rising costs. But now something has to give.”
