HMRC witholds Gift-Aid from Christian Charity

HMRC has withheld £2.8 million in Gift-Aid from a Christian Charity over questions about whether its funds have been spent on charitable purposes. Christ Embassy’s accounts for 2012 show that HMRC has withheld any gift-aid claims since 2008 whilst they conduct an enquiry into grants made to overseas organisations. This comes on top of the Charity Commission statutory enquiry launched in September.
