FUNDING: Public Health Research Programme

Application Deadline: 06 August 2013

Financial assistance is available to fund research interventions outside the NHS aimed at improving public health and reducing health inequalities. The programme is multidisciplinary and broad and it will cover the range of public health interventions, from social marketing for the promotion of safer sex, to speed humps for the prevention of road traffic accidents.

The Public Health Research Programme is provided and administered by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and provides £10 million a year to pay for the evaluation of public health interventions delivered by local authorities and voluntary sector organisations throughout the UK. The aim of the programme is to provide new knowledge on the benefits, costs, acceptability and wider impacts of non-NHS interventions intended to improve the health of the public and reduce inequalities in health.
