OPPORTUNITY: People to Parliament

People to Parliament political engagement project

The Hansard Society, funded by the City Bridge Trust, are running the People to Parliament FREE political engagement project designed to give participants the skills they need to get involved with and influence the work of Parliament, open to Londoners from Black and Minority Ethnic communities. Participants will receive:


  • Evening training workshops in the local area about how Parliament works and how to influence it – refreshments provided;
  • A short placement (1-2 weeks) in an MPs office – travel and lunch expenses paid
  • A short work placement (1-2 weeks) in an organisation that works in the political world (media organisation, campaigning charity etc) – travel and lunch expenses paid

The courses will be available between Autumn 2012 and Spring 2013. Participants will be expected to use the experience they gain to encourage and stimulate greater involvement in the work of Parliaments within their local communities.
