£65m to Sustain and Transform Free Advice for Better Future

Launched 26 October, the Advice Services Transition Fund is a Big Lottery Fund programme, providing up to £65m to help local not-for-profit social welfare advice providers in England to adapt and transform over the next two years, 2013/14 and 2014/15. This includes the money announced for the sector in Budget 2012 and a matching investment from Big Lottery Fund.

This represents a real opportunity for the social welfare advice sector to transform and become more resilient in a new economic climate.  The fund will provide some support for ongoing service provision but the majority of the funds will be targeted at enabling collaborative partnerships of not-for-profit organisations to re-shape services and become more cost-effective, resilient and better able to meet the needs of vulnerable people.
