FaithAction Coffee House: Domestic Abuse

Date
Wednesday, 27th May 2020
Time
11:00am - 12:00pm

We’re opening up a weekly FaithAction Coffee House for all of our members.

With the help of one or two guest speakers, we will facilitate a conversation on a topic of interest to you, before opening the floor for each of you to share any stories, best-practices, or challenges you’ve faced. It’s an opportunity for each of you to share what you’ve learnt with others, and to glean wisdom and ideas from each other as you learn about what other members around the country are up to.

You’re likely facing many of the same challenges; why not see if anyone else has a solution!

This week’s theme will be domestic abuse.

The lockdown and social distancing measures were put in place to keep our communities safe from COVID-19, but home isn’t a safe place for everyone. According to ONS statistics, about 4.2% of men and 7.9% of women suffered domestic abuse in England and Wales during 2018. Many children are affected too.

With tensions raised in many households and the usual ways of seeing those outside of one’s household greatly restricted, it’s easier for this issue to go unnoticed.

Join us to discuss the effect that coronavirus has had on domestic abuse, hear about what faith-based organisations can and are doing to support those at risk in our current circumstances, and share ideas and best practice.

Panellists include:

  • Kathy Coe, founder of the Pathway Project
